T: James Tobin

James Tobin earned immortality four times over. First, monetary economics has an effect named after him (which has largely gone out of fashion by now). Then, there is his econometric procedure which has attained the ultimate mark of immortality: the word "tobit" is spelled with lowercase letters. Third, he managed to get the letter q named after him. And if that's not enough, there is a dreaded tax which bears his good name. Death need not be certain (look at our immortal economists), but who can escape from taxes? Financiers of the world will forever live under the shadow of our immortal Tobin.
